Product information

Guitar Heroes: The Decca Years 1965–1967 collects one of the most important periods in British blues history in an extensive four-LP box set. John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers famously became a proving ground for an extraordinary generation of guitarists, including Eric Clapton, Peter Green and Mick Taylor.

Across four records, the collection documents the evolution of Mayall's Bluesbreakers during their classic Decca years. From the raw energy of the group's early recordings to the groundbreaking Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton and the subsequent Peter Green and Mick Taylor eras, these recordings played a major role in the development of British blues-rock.

The vinyl edition receives particularly impressive treatment. All four 180-gram black vinyl LPs were cut AAA – completely analogue – at Abbey Road Studios from the original Decca master tapes. Each record comes in its own outer sleeve with a black poly-lined inner sleeve.

The deluxe box also includes a 40-page LP-sized hardcover book, featuring an extended new essay documenting the lineage and influence of these guitarists, together with a visual family tree tracing their progression towards Cream, Fleetwood Mac and The Rolling Stones.

An outstanding archival collection for fans of John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Taylor and the formative years of British blues-rock.
