The Pioneer of Modern Loudspeakers
The Jensen story begins with Peter L. Jensen, born in Falster, Denmark, in 1886. After emigrating to America in 1909, Jensen dedicated his life to innovation in sound reproduction.
In 1915, together with Edwin Pridham, he developed the famous Magnavox, the world's first loudspeaker. In 1919, this groundbreaking technology was used to amplify a public speech by U.S. President Woodrow Wilson in San Diego.
In 1927, Peter Jensen founded the Jensen Radio Manufacturing Company, producing speakers for military applications, radios, and eventually commercial audio systems.
Jensen and the Birth of Guitar Amplification
Jensen became an essential part of music history when Leo Fender selected Jensen speakers for some of the first guitar amplifiers ever built.
Throughout the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s, Jensen speakers became standard equipment for legendary brands including:
Fender
Gibson
Ampeg
The sound of rock 'n' roll, blues, country, and jazz was shaped in part by Jensen speakers.
The Perfect Speaker for Your Jukebox
Jensen speakers are highly valued among jukebox restorers because of their:
Rich vintage tone
Excellent bass response
Clear midrange frequencies
Dynamic highs
Authentic 1950s and 1960s sound
Long-lasting reliability
Whether restoring an original jukebox or upgrading an existing sound system, Jensen speakers deliver the authentic listening experience collectors expect.
Jensen Today – Heritage Meets Innovation
In the late 1990s, under a licensing agreement, Italian speaker manufacturer SICA Altoparlanti revived the legendary Jensen brand.
Following extensive research and analysis, modern Jensen reissue speakers are manufactured to the same specifications as the original speakers used by Leo Fender and many other music pioneers.
Today, Jensen continues to produce both faithful vintage reissues and innovative modern designs, including the acclaimed Jensen Jet Series.
