Billie Holiday - Body And Soul LP

Body And Soul is one of the classic albums from Billie Holiday's later career. Originally released in 1957, the record captures “Lady Day” during her Verve Records period, when her voice had developed an increasingly dark and lived-in quality that brought remarkable emotional depth to familiar standards.

Holiday is accompanied by an outstanding jazz ensemble featuring musicians including Ben Webster on tenor saxophone, Harry “Sweets” Edison on trumpet, Jimmy Rowles on piano and Barney Kessel on guitar. Their understated accompaniment gives Holiday's unmistakable phrasing and timing plenty of room to shine.

The eight-song album includes such standards as “Body And Soul”, “They Can't Take That Away From Me”, “Darn That Dream”, “Embraceable You” and “Moonlight In Vermont”.

This Verve Essential Vinyl Series edition was released on 9 October 2026 as a black vinyl LP. An essential addition to any collection of classic jazz, vocal jazz and Billie Holiday recordings.
