Product information
An original American fire hydrant manufactured by the Eddy Valve Company of Waterford, New York. A fantastic heavy-duty piece of American industrial history with all the character and patina you would expect from a genuinely old working object.
This particular style of hydrant dates from approximately 1890 to the early 1910s. Its historic design is immediately recognizable by the tall cylindrical body, distinctive tapered ribbed bonnet, substantial outlet caps and decorative cast emblem on the front.
The cast emblem includes the Eddy Valve Co. and Waterford, N.Y. markings, clearly identifying the manufacturer and origin of this impressive antique hydrant.
Made from heavy cast iron, the hydrant has developed a wonderful authentic patina over its long life. The aged green/grey finish, surface rust, paint loss, discoloration and heavy metal chains all contribute to its genuine industrial appearance. These signs of age and use are an important part of the character and history of the piece.
A spectacular collector's item for enthusiasts of Americana, fire department memorabilia and industrial antiques, as well as an outstanding decorative statement piece for a man cave, garage, showroom, shop, restaurant or American-style diner.
