Billie Holiday, known worldwide as Lady Day, stands as one of the most influential jazz and swing vocalists in music history. Renowned for her emotional phrasing, expressive delivery, and improvisational approach, Holiday reshaped vocal jazz and left a lasting legacy that continues to inspire countless artists.
The title track Lover Man, written in 1941 by Jimmy Davis, Roger “Ram” Ramirez, and James Sherman, became one of Holiday’s biggest hits. Reaching No. 5 on the R&B chart and No. 16 on the pop chart, it was later inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1989. This album also includes some of her signature performances, such as the haunting “Solitude”, the emotional “Porgy”, and beloved standards like “Crazy He Calls Me”.
This 180-gram Black Vinyl pressing captures the warmth and brilliance of Billie Holiday’s timeless artistry. A must-have for jazz enthusiasts, collectors, and fans of vocal legends.
