Peter Voskuil
The complete, comprehensive book about every song by Boudewijn de Groot
Testament, Het land van Maas en Waal, Verdronken vlinder (Drown Butterfly), Prikkebeen (Prickle Leg), Als de rook rond je hoofd is kwijt (When the smoke around your head has disappeared), Jimmy en Avond (Jimmy and Evening), but also Pastorale, Malle Babbe (Crazy Babbe), and Annabel: Boudewijn de Groot's oeuvre is rich and spans seven decades.
On the eve of his eightieth birthday, Boudewijn de Groot spent dozens of hours talking with music journalist Peter Voskuil. They listened back to every officially released song he was involved with as an artist, songwriter, producer, or guest musician. Album by album, song by song, note by note.
These are the stories behind all his songs. Supplemented with historical documents and rare, previously unpublished photography from numerous archives (including his own), this is the ultimate, authorized standard work on his career.
"In the Netherlands, Boudewijn was all one, The Beatles, Dylan, and Neil Young all rolled into one." Peter Voskuil
"Even if I weren't a fan, I'd want to read this book." Boudewijn de Groot
Peter Voskuil has been considered an authority on Dutch pop history since the publication of his five-kilo book, Dutch Mountains. He previously wrote the biography of Lennaert Nijgh.
