Product information
With Danny Vera as his chaperone, Brian Dunne came to the Netherlands and his song New Tattoo became a hit here. Now there is a new album from the New York singer-songwriter. Loser On The Ropes. A record with a new sound, but on the same label. Excelsior Recordings and Danny Vera once again join forces and release the album via PMD Records.
"I'm obsessed with failure," says Brian Dunne. "It's so much more interesting to me than success, so much more honest and humane."
On Loser On The Ropes, Brian Dunne's mesmerizing new album, he explores the darker sides of life. The life of losers and misfits. Dunne may be a singer-songwriter in the purely technical sense of the word, but on this album he has more in common with punks and new wavers. That's not to say that Loser On The Ropes is a punk album - it's arguably the most beautiful and most melodic record Dunne has ever made - but rather that the songs go straight to the point. They are speaking songs, sung with a voice that makes sense in terms of emotional eloquence. Narrative songs also in which the singer, who sometimes recalls a cross between Bruce Springsteen and Jackson Browne, does not spare himself.
