The Shel Talmy Recordings takes listeners back to 1965, when David Bowie was still performing as Davie Jones. The LP brings together early studio recordings made with The Lower Third and The Manish Boys, produced by Shel Talmy, whose work also included landmark recordings by The Kinks and The Who. It offers a fascinating look at Bowie’s musical beginnings before his international breakthrough.

Released in 2026, this LP features twelve tracks, including six previously unreleased recordings. Alongside early singles such as You’ve Got A Habit Of Leaving and Baby Loves That Way, the collection includes I Want Your Love, Cupid, Certain Woman and the instrumental Keep Up With The Jones. The recordings capture Bowie’s early exploration of beat music, rhythm and blues, and British mod rock.

The sessions also feature notable musicians, including Jimmy Page on recordings by The Manish Boys. All tracks were produced by Shel Talmy, with the collection mastered and remastered in 2026 by John Webber.

This standard black-vinyl edition was released by Parlophone on September 18, 2026. It contains twelve tracks; the expanded CD edition features a different, longer programme.
