Product information

Soul project of the Dutch bands DeWolff & Dawn Brothers.

Pablo van de Poel about Double Cream:
It was during the recording of Dawn Brothers' new single 'Too Many Colors in the Sun' in 2017 that I decided that Bas van Holt and I should definitely get together and try to write some songs along the lines of Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Ray Charles, The Coasters, Clovers and all the other great soul and rhythm & blues artists who started it all: the musical gods who moved hips around the world, the instigators who laid the foundations for virtually all the music that has inspired us for so many years.

In our own bands, DeWolff and Dawn Brothers, we've always tried to bridge the gap between "then" and "now", but this time we just wanted to build a time machine that takes you back to the 1960s with the same equipment, recording techniques and musical way of thinking. On April 20, 2021 we finally got together and wrote 4 songs that day: Let Me Tell You, I'm Gone, Alabama Small Town and (Something in my) Pocket. We asked our friends to take them with us the next day.

In Electrosaurus Studio, 9 people gathered in one room and had a great time recording songs straight to analog tape. Everything was recorded live, with horns, backing vocals, percussion and excellent vocal performances by Bas. It was one of the best musical experiences I've ever had. So we decided to make something of this and planned 4 more sessions: 1 day writing, 1 day recording and 1 day mixing. Before long we had recorded a full album.
Everything you hear is recorded live on analog tape with 6 to 11 people together in one room having so much fun, which is exactly what makes this album so much fun to listen to. It was just so much fun to make!
