Early Dolly is a fascinating collection of early recordings by legendary American country singer-songwriter Dolly Parton. The album takes listeners back to the beginning of her remarkable musical journey, long before she became an international superstar with timeless songs such as Jolene, Coat Of Many Colors and I Will Always Love You.
This special Limited Edition is pressed on beautiful Purple Marble Vinyl and presented in a gatefold sleeve. Featuring eight historic recordings, the LP offers a rare opportunity to discover the young Dolly Parton and the traditional country music that helped shape her distinctive style.
Growing up in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, Dolly Parton was surrounded by music from an early age. Her exceptional vocal talent soon became apparent, and in 1959, at just thirteen years old, she made her first professional recordings.
Two of those early performances appear on this album: Puppy Love and Girl Left Alone. These songs reveal a young singer already displaying the expressive voice and natural melodic instinct that would later make her famous.
Early Dolly also includes six rare recordings from 1963 Nashville sessions, featuring interpretations of traditional country songs, including material associated with pioneering country singer Kitty Wells.
Among the highlights is It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels, an influential song in the history of female country performers. Makin' Believe and Release Me (And Let Me Love Again) further demonstrate Dolly's early connection to the traditional Nashville sound.
Another important recording is Letter To Heaven, a song written by Dolly Parton for Kitty Wells. It provides an early glimpse of her exceptional songwriting talent and her ability to tell emotionally engaging stories through music.
The collection is completed by Two Little Orphans and Little Blossoms, two songs reflecting the storytelling traditions of classic American country.
More than simply a compilation, Early Dolly is a musical document of the formative years of one of country music's most influential artists.
With its historic recordings, attractive Purple Marble Vinyl pressing and elegant gatefold packaging, this LP is a wonderful addition to any collection of classic country, vintage recordings and Dolly Parton memorabilia.
