Product information
The CD Elvis Presley – June ’66 Sessions is a fascinating and in-depth release that offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at Elvis’ studio work from June 1966. Issued by the CSH import record label, this collection brings together all available recordings from June 10, 1966, complemented by additional rare studio material and bonus recordings.
Rare sessions without Elvis present
One of the most remarkable aspects of this release is that Elvis was not present during part of these sessions. At his request, Red West and Charlie Hodge stepped in to record vocal guide tracks so the studio work could continue. These Red West vocal performances are rarely heard and provide a unique insight into the creative process behind Elvis’ recordings.
The CD also includes a home recording of “Indescribably Blue”, possibly recorded one day later, adding an intimate and personal element to this already special set.
MGM Sound Stage & Bel Air Home Recordings
Included are several MGM Sound Stage recordings from June 14, 1966, many of which appear for the first time on CD in this sound quality. These recordings highlight alternate takes, work parts, and session fragments that reveal how songs evolved in the studio.
As an added bonus, the release features remastered Bel Air Home Recordings from 1966, presented as originally recorded — without artificial or “fake” overdubs that appeared on some earlier releases.
Extensive track selection
The CD offers an impressive and detailed tracklist featuring:
Multiple takes and work parts of “Indescribably Blue”
Extensive session material for “I’ll Remember You”
Numerous takes of “If Every Day Was Like Christmas”
Rare movie versions of songs such as All That I Am and I’ll Be Back
The rarely heard track-only recording of “City By Night” (Take 3)
Bonus Tracks
A generous selection of bonus tracks is included, featuring alternate versions of:
Down In The Alley (screaming girls versions)
Fools Rush In (Where Angels Fear To Tread)
It’s A Sin To Tell A Lie
What Now My Love
Five Hundred Miles
Blowin’ In The Wind
⭐ Essential for serious collectors
