Live In Memphis captures Elvis Presley performing in his hometown at the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis, Tennessee, on July 5, 1976. Beginning at 8:30 PM, the show closed his summer tour and became Elvis' final live concert appearance in Memphis. Almost 12,000 fans attended.

The date carries additional historical significance. Exactly 22 years earlier, on July 5, 1954, Elvis had recorded That's All Right at Sun Studio. During this 1976 hometown concert he returned to the song alongside rock & roll favourites including Jailhouse Rock, Hound Dog, All Shook Up, One Night and Can't Help Falling In Love.

The performance also demonstrates the remarkable breadth of Elvis' mid-1970s stage repertoire. Rock & roll sits alongside ballads such as And I Love You So and Love Letters, gospel favourite How Great Thou Art, America The Beautiful and powerful later-period performances including Hurt, You Gave Me A Mountain and Polk Salad Annie.

One of the show's highlights is a spontaneous sequence of older favourites, including One Night, That's All Right and Blue Christmas. Contemporary concert documentation notes this acoustic-style section as a particular highlight of the Memphis performance. At roughly 90 minutes, the hometown concert was also unusually long for Elvis during this period.

This 2CD edition presents the Memphis performance across two discs. The supplied track configuration groups several medleys, introductions and reprises together, resulting in a 29-track presentation.
