Fort Worth, Texas – June 3, 1976 – Evening Show
Elvis Presley – No More Feedbacks! is a fascinating live release for collectors of Elvis' 1976 concert recordings. Issued by Rock Legends in 2015 under catalogue number RL-CD01-2015, the CD primarily features Elvis' June 3, 1976 Evening Show at the Tarrant County Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
One of the main attractions is the source material. Most of the concert comes from a professional soundboard recording, giving the listener a direct presentation of Elvis and his touring band.
Elvis in Fort Worth
The familiar strains of Also Sprach Zarathustra introduce the show before Elvis launches into C.C. Rider and an extended I Got A Woman / Amen. The first part of the concert includes Love Me, If You Love Me (Let Me Know) and the powerful You Gave Me A Mountain.
Elvis then revisits his rock-'n'-roll catalogue with All Shook Up, Teddy Bear / Don't Be Cruel and Heartbreak Hotel, while Help Me, Jailhouse Rock, Fever and Polk Salad Annie add plenty of variety.
The band introductions and instrumental solos give several members of Elvis' touring ensemble their own spotlight, including James Burton, Ronnie Tutt, Jerry Scheff, Tony Brown and David Briggs.
Hurt – twice!
One of the highlights is Hurt, followed by a complete reprise of the song. Elvis also performs Love Letters and Funny How Time Slips Away, while the concert eventually reaches its traditional conclusion with Can't Help Falling In Love and the Closing Vamp.
Another charming moment is the short performance of Happy Birthday for sound engineer Bruce Jackson.
Completing the original recording
There is an important detail for collectors. The original June 3 tape contained some damage and omissions. Rather than present an incomplete concert, the producers filled the missing sections with performances recorded at the same Fort Worth venue on July 3, 1976.
According to the release information, track 11 and tracks 28–31 originate from the July 3 performance. Therefore, No More Feedbacks! should be regarded as a reconstructed presentation of the June 3 concert rather than an entirely uninterrupted recording from a single tape.
The concert material had previously appeared on the 2-CD set The Elvis Presley Show – Holding Down The Fort, which also included material from the opening acts. No More Feedbacks! returned the concert to collectors in 2015 as a limited Rock Legends release.
