Elvis Presley – Rockin’ in Georgia (2LP, Limited Colored Vinyl)
An ambitious and long-awaited project that puts the spotlight firmly on Elvis Presley’s hard-rocking side of the 1970s. Rockin’ in Georgia opens, fittingly, with what many consider his finest late-era rock single: “Promised Land.”
This SR Special Release is a deluxe 2LP set designed to capture Elvis at the peak of his powers—both in the studio and on stage.
LP 1 is dedicated entirely to Promised Land, tracing the song’s evolution from its December 1973 studio recording to its explosive live performances. Cut at 45 RPM, this disc delivers exceptional clarity and punch, revealing every detail of Elvis’s renewed rock energy.
LP 2 features the first show of Elvis’s April 1975 tour, recorded live at the Macon Coliseum, Georgia, on April 24, 1975—widely regarded as one of the strongest performances of that year. Sourced from the original soundboard recording, this concert appears on vinyl for the very first time, newly remastered from the Analog Mono master for dramatically improved sound quality.
Despite ongoing health struggles, Elvis takes the stage in Macon with a revitalized rock spirit, delivering a powerful, confident set built around recent material. Highlights include the late-career rocking trilogy — “Burning Love,” “Promised Land,” and “T-R-O-U-B-L-E” — alongside the deeply personal “My Boy.” As Cash Box put it: “Elvis really hits home.” His take on Chuck Berry’s Promised Land once again proves his unmatched ability to make any song entirely his own.
