Blue by Joni Mitchell is widely regarded as one of the defining singer-songwriter albums of all time. Originally released in 1971, its ten deeply personal songs explore love, freedom, heartbreak, longing and vulnerability with remarkable emotional clarity. This special Blue Vinyl edition gives the classic album an appropriately striking coloured-vinyl presentation.

Much of the album's enduring power comes from its intimacy. The arrangements are deliberately uncluttered, allowing Mitchell's distinctive voice, melodies and extraordinary songwriting to remain at the centre. Piano, acoustic guitar and Appalachian dulcimer all play important roles in its unmistakable sound.

The album opens with All I Want, followed by My Old Man and the deeply personal Little Green. The first side continues with the lively Carey before concluding with the beautiful title track, Blue.

Side B delivers one classic after another. California captures Mitchell's longing for home while travelling, while This Flight Tonight would later become well known through Nazareth's rock interpretation.

The haunting piano ballad River has become one of Mitchell's most enduring compositions. It is followed by A Case Of You, a song frequently regarded as one of the defining moments of her remarkable catalogue.

The Last Time I Saw Richard brings the album to a reflective close, completing a record that remains as intimate and compelling today as it was when first released.

This Blue Vinyl LP is a beautiful edition for fans of Joni Mitchell, folk, singer-songwriters, 1970s music and collectable coloured vinyl, as well as an essential record for any serious vinyl collection.
