The Breakdown is an intimate 2026 studio album from five-time Grammy winner Keb' Mo', released on August 21, 2026 through Concord Records. More than fifty years into his career, Keb' Mo' takes an unusually stripped-back approach here: most of the record consists of little more than his voice and guitar.

The ten songs were written during a profound period of change in his life, following life-saving open-heart surgery, the end of his nearly twenty-year marriage and a period of intense personal upheaval. Those experiences inform songs dealing with love, loss, mortality, ageing, hope and resilience.

Recorded at Keb' Mo's home studio outside Nashville, the album largely avoids elaborate arrangements. Only two tracks feature additional guest vocals: acclaimed gospel sextet Take 6 appears on They Don't Make 'Em Like They Used To, while the Soweto Gospel Choir joins him for Hand It Over.

Musically, The Breakdown moves naturally between blues, folk, soul and Americana, putting Keb' Mo's songwriting and storytelling firmly in the spotlight. Concord describes the record as blending folk, blues, jazz and soul through a series of intimate acoustic performances.

This special edition is pressed on Eco Red Blend Vinyl, also known as Red Eco-Mix. Concord's EcoMix process uses 100% recycled PVC, sorting multicoloured manufacturing waste into colour families and reusing it to create distinctive marbled records. Because recycled material is used, the exact shade and pattern can vary from one copy to another.

The European edition carries catalogue number 7277661 and EAN/UPC 0888072776616.

A beautifully stripped-back release for fans of Keb' Mo', acoustic blues, roots music, Americana, folk and singer-songwriters.
