Who is Larry Strickland?
Larry Strickland is a gospel singer and bass vocalist best known as a member of J.D. Sumner & The Stamps Quartet, the group that performed with Elvis Presley from 1975 to 1977.
He shared the stage with Elvis in over 200 concerts, contributing his deep bass tones to the King’s legendary live sound.
Beyond Elvis, Strickland has led a distinguished career:
Artist manager for Wynonna and Naomi Judd, whom he married in 1989.
Member of the Palmetto State Quartet in later years.
Recorded on historic sessions including “Way Down” in Elvis’ Graceland Jungle Room.
Larry Strickland remains one of the few living connections to Elvis’ inner musical circle — a man who literally stood beside The King on stage.
