Product information
A beautiful original American Velvet Pipe & Cigarette Tobacco advertising display, dating from approximately the 1940s/1950s. This highly decorative piece of period tobacco advertising features a wonderful winter and Christmas theme.
The artwork prominently features the famous red Velvet Tobacco tin together with its original packaging and the large advertising slogan “Give him Velvet.” A “Merry Christmas” message appears on the package at the top, suggesting that this display was produced as seasonal point-of-sale advertising for the Christmas period.
Made from sturdy printed cardboard, the display retains its original fold-out easel stand on the reverse, allowing it to stand independently on a counter or shelf. The lower edge is marked “Litho. in U.S.A.” and Liggett & Myers Tobacco Co.
Considering its age, the display remains in good original condition. The colours are still remarkably bright and vibrant, particularly the rich blue, red and white graphics. There are some small marks, scratches and age-related imperfections, as can be expected from an original cardboard advertising piece of this age.
