PINK FLOYD IN THE NETHERLANDS is the story of fifty years of Pink Floyd in the Low Countries. From first performances in parish halls and pop temples such as Paradiso and Fantasio to concerts in renowned concert halls such as De Doelen and the Concertgebouw, not to mention the major breakthrough at the closing of the festival in the Kralingse Bos in 1970. Charles Beterams unravels the large part of our country in Pink Floyd's development. In chronological order and with unique and previously unpublished photos, remarkable facts and special eyewitness accounts from those directly involved, PINK FLOYD IN NETHERLANDS tells the full story of the legendary English pop group from a unique Dutch perspective. How is it possible that in 1968 a hall owner in Apeldoorn switches on the hall lighting halfway through a Pink Floyd concert and even the police appear on the scene? What happens before the forgotten Paradiso concert in 1969? Will Syd Barrett show up for the concert during VPRO's Piknik in 1970? Who are the special guests during the intermission of The Wall Live by Roger Waters in Arnhem on April 8, 2011? The fact that the Netherlands is important to the band in the early years is apparent from the many concerts that can be found in the box set The Early Years 1967-1972. In addition to the concerts in Amsterdam, mostly recorded by the VPRO, in the early years there were hastily organized tours to places such as Heesch, Vlissingen, Bussum, Terneuzen, Groningen, Weesp, Maastricht and Nijmegen. After the big breakthrough of the seventies, Pink Floyd can be seen sporadically in the Netherlands, such as during the tour to promote Animals in 1977. After the comeback in the late eighties, there are also sold-out concerts in De Kuip and in the Goffertpark in Nijmegen. In recent years, David Gilmour and Roger Waters can be seen regularly in our country. PINK FLOYD IN THE NETHERLANDS is the updated and completely updated successor to Pink Floyd in the Polder that Charles Beterams wrote in 2007 with Robert Haagsma, and about which the press was unanimous in its opinion. "Mandatory on the bookshelf of anyone who dares to call themselves a Pink Floyd fan or connoisseur of the history of pop music in the Netherlands" - MusicMaker "Excellent, in-depth and solid standard work" - OOR
