Rent Money is the 2026 album by American singer-songwriter Pokey LaFarge, an artist who has spent more than two decades developing a distinctive musical identity. Known for his imaginative approach to traditional American music, LaFarge effortlessly combines vintage influences with contemporary songwriting and an unmistakable sense of style.

On Rent Money, elements of Americana, country, blues, folk, early rhythm & blues and vintage rock & roll come together in a vibrant collection of eleven songs.

The album features twanging guitars, lively rhythms and memorable melodies, creating an atmosphere that recalls classic American recordings. Beneath its upbeat musical character, however, the songs explore personal experiences, social pressures and the uncertainty of modern life.

The title track Rent Money reflects the album's combination of everyday concerns and infectious musical energy. Its spirited arrangement and direct songwriting capture the distinctive personality that has made Pokey LaFarge such a compelling performer.

Opening tracks The Thing, My Baby Loves Me and Hambone highlight his affection for traditional American roots music. Their rhythmic drive and vintage-inspired arrangements draw from a rich musical heritage in which country, blues, jazz and rock & roll regularly overlapped.

Songs such as Stick Together, Work and Stranger bring together personal storytelling and wider social observations. Meanwhile, Can't Take It With You, Told You No and Big Boss Man demonstrate the album's stylistic variety.

Closing track On And On completes an eleven-song collection that feels both timeless and unmistakably contemporary.

Originally released digitally on September 11, 2026, through Boxer Boy Records, Rent Money received its vinyl release on October 2, 2026, through Diggers Factory.
