Hai Hai is the second solo album by Roger Hodgson, former Supertramp vocalist, songwriter and co-founder. Originally released in 1987, three years after his solo debut In The Eye Of The Storm, the album returns in 2026 as a newly prepared Half-Speed Master pressed on 180-gram black vinyl.

Hai Hai captures Hodgson in a distinctly 1980s setting, combining melodic pop rock and art rock with synthesizers, polished production and his instantly recognisable voice. The album features an impressive group of musicians including Jeff Porcaro, David Paich, Nathan East, Leland Sklar, Omar Hakim, Dan Huff and Lenny Castro.

Side A features Right Place, My Magazine, London, You Make Me Love You and the title track Hai Hai. The second side continues with Who's Afraid?, Desert Love and Land Ho, before closing with House On The Corner and Puppet Dance.

The title Hai Hai was described by Hodgson as a positive expression, essentially meaning “yes, yes” in Japanese. Some of the album's later songs explore considerably deeper territory: House On The Corner deals with a veteran struggling to return to everyday life after war, while Puppet Dance explores feelings surrounding the loss of a loved one.

For this 2026 vinyl reissue, the audio was transferred at Abbey Road Studios by Miles Showell, who cut the half-speed master used to manufacture the record. The finished LP is pressed on 180-gram black vinyl and was released on August 21, 2026.

An excellent reissue for fans of Roger Hodgson, Supertramp, '80s pop rock, art rock and classic rock.
