Seeburg KD-200 Jukebox 1957 – 200 Selections – Restored

An impressive 1957 Seeburg KD-200 jukebox, restored and ready to be enjoyed for many years to come. The KD-200 is a spectacular example of late-1950s American jukebox design and offers an impressive 200 selections from 100 vinyl records.

One of the most distinctive features of this model is its strong 1950s American automotive styling. The front in particular is unmistakable: three large chrome ornaments with illuminated red lenses resemble the tail lights of an extravagant American automobile of the period.

It is a wonderful example of the way jukebox designers borrowed styling cues from the booming American car industry of the 1950s.

100 records – 200 selections

The Seeburg KD-200 holds an impressive 100 7-inch vinyl singles. Both the A- and B-side of every record can be selected, providing:

100 records – 200 selections

That gives you an enormous music library for a genuine mechanical jukebox from 1957.

Fill it with rock 'n' roll, rockabilly, rhythm & blues, doo-wop, country, soul or your own favourite collection.

If you don't already have 100 suitable records, vinyl singles can be supplied at additional cost.

Rotating title card system

Another fascinating feature of the KD-200 is its unusual system for displaying all those song choices.

The title cards are housed in a rotating display system, allowing the user to browse through the available songs before making a selection. It was a clever solution for presenting 200 selections without filling the entire front of the jukebox with title cards.

Using this system is part of the charm of operating a genuine Seeburg from this period.

Inspired by 1950s American automobiles

The automotive influence becomes especially obvious when you look at the lower front of the KD-200.

A large metal grille is decorated with three spectacular chrome projections fitted with red illuminated lenses. They resemble the dramatic tail-light designs found on American cars during the second half of the 1950s.

Together with the chrome trim, huge glass upper cabinet and visible record mechanism, they give the KD-200 an appearance unlike almost any other jukebox.

This was the era when American design was becoming bigger, brighter and more extravagant – and the KD-200 fits perfectly into that world.
