Pop Go The Beatles is a special 7-inch vinyl release featuring historic BBC radio recordings by The Beatles from 1963. Capturing the excitement, energy and unmistakable sound of the young band, this record offers a fascinating glimpse into the early days of Beatlemania.

During the summer of 1963, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr were given their own BBC radio programme, Pop Go The Beatles. The series allowed the group to perform their original hits alongside favourite American rock-'n-roll and rhythm-and-blues songs.

Most of the recordings featured on this single were made on June 1, 1963, at the BBC Paris Studio in London. Twist And Shout was recorded separately on June 17, 1963, at the BBC Maida Vale Studios.

The record opens with the familiar Pop Go The Beatles theme, a lively instrumental adaptation of Pop Goes The Weasel used to introduce and close the original broadcasts.

Love Me Do follows, presenting the song that launched The Beatles' recording career in 1962. Its distinctive harmonica, guitar accompaniment and Lennon-McCartney harmonies capture the group's early musical identity.

From Me To You was one of the band's major British hits of 1963. This BBC performance demonstrates the remarkable energy and musical chemistry of The Beatles during their formative years.

The second side features Memphis, Tennessee, written by rock-'n-roll pioneer Chuck Berry. The song highlights the influence of American rock music on the band's early repertoire.

Twist And Shout is one of the most electrifying performances associated with the early Beatles. John Lennon's powerful vocal delivery and the band's driving instrumental sound make it an essential part of their musical legacy.

The record closes with another performance of the Pop Go The Beatles theme.

Presented in historic mono sound, these recordings provide an exciting snapshot of The Beatles before their transformation into the biggest band in the world.

An excellent addition to collections of The Beatles, Merseybeat, British sixties music, classic rock-'n-roll and historic BBC recordings.
